Hi! My name is Melissa, I live in the UK and I love blogging about children’s books. Why do I love children’s books? 

My first job when I was eighteen was in a bookshop called Hammicks, I was lucky enough to be part-time staff when the shop was tripled in size, and a separate children’s department was made. I was young and enthusiastic and popped straight into working in the children’s department. I worked there for six years whilst I was a student and eventually became full time staff after university. I left there after 8 years to complete a librarianship qualification.

I loved that bookshop and bookshop times were good. I had access and knowledge of all the new titles and access galore to proof copies ( if my manager was feeling kind enough that day!) I read and read, recommended books to customers and met authors like Philip Pullman and partied with Jacqueline Wilson!

I’m now a part time librarian/mum who can’t get enough reading of children’s books. I’m lucky enough that I can now enjoy these books with my daughter, and writing this blog is a joy! I love to hear about new children’s books and I want to keep up with new titles. Children’s books are so exciting!!
